What is Hormone Yoga?

 

Hormone Yoga Therapy is a dynamic yoga, which not only increases vitality and well-being, it stimulates the female glands, hormones and the natural estrogen production in the ovaries.

 

Since 1992 Dinah Rodrigues, a Yoga Teacher and Dr. of Psychology from Brasil, researches on the effect of certain yoga practices on the endocrine system. From these studies she developed a set of specific exercises to reactivate the hormone production and recommends them to be practiced from the age of 35 to prevent Menopausal symptoms.

 

It has also shown to lessens the chance of later ailments like Osteoporosis or the chance for cardio-vascular diseases. In younger women it helps to improve fertility and to remove premenstrual symptoms, in men it helps to improve testosterone levels and prostate health.

Over time the practice has also shown to be beneficial for most other hormonal imbalances, like Thyroid Dysfunctions, Diabetes Type 1 & 2 or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.

 

Moreover Hormone Yoga promotes a positive attitude towards the changes of Menopause in women, to be recognised as a natural and valuable phase leading to wisdom and maturity.

A time in which new energies are set free and women can take more time for their own spiritual growth.

Contraindications for practicing Hormone Yoga:

– in cases in which your levels of estrogen should not increase, e.g. severe endometriosis,

fibroids/myoma or breast cancer)

– in any other case of cancer – „check with your physician“

– Recent surgery

– during pregnancy

– in case of acute psychosis

– in case of any hormone-related disease ask your medical doctor for advice.

How does a Hormone Yoga class work?

Hormone Yoga Therapy consists of a special series of Dynamical exercices (asanas) to reactivate hormone production.

Asanas are accompagnied by intense breathing techniques (pranamaya), energetic level, concentration, visualization and relaxation (Yoga Nidra).

The exercices are very simple but dynamic and suitable to everyone.

No previous Yoga experience is needed.

 

You have the possibility to book a private class and to enjoy your session in a bright and peaceful country house in the Chianti hills on the outskirts of Florence, however sessions can also be held at your home, a hotel or place of work as you prefer.

The sessions can also be held one to one or in group via Zoom.

 

I’m a qualified Hormone Yoga Teacher (Dinah Rodrigues method) certified by Yoga Prema School of Yoga (Bristol-UK).

 

In addition to English, I am fluent in French, German, Russian and of course Italian!
